The client, a leading manufacturer of transmissions and drivetrain components, sought to secure a reliable and cost-effective Asian supplier base capable of producing 77 critical parts for a major US powersports project. With the need to support a high-volume program for an entry-level all-terrain vehicle (ATV), the client required a structured approach to assess supply capability across Asia and identify partners that could meet stringent technical, quality, and commercial requirements. ARC Group was engaged to conduct a full market mapping and supplier evaluation initiative, including long-list development, in-depth validation, and facilitation of introductions to best-fit suppliers.



The opportunity

Asia hosts a large and diverse supply base for drivetrain components, offering opportunities for cost optimization, scalability, and long-term sourcing resilience. However, identifying suppliers capable of meeting the client’s precise engine-part specifications required rigorous assessment. By conducting a systematic evaluation and comparing capabilities, quality systems, and pricing across regions, the client could build a competitive and dependable supplier ecosystem aligned with its production goals.

Our Approach

ARC Group began by working closely with the client to define evaluation criteria, then performed a comprehensive analysis of the Asian market to build a long list of capable manufacturers. The long list was assessed against initial criteria to produce a validated set of priority candidates. We then conducted deeper evaluation through structured RFIs and RFQs, collecting detailed information on technical capabilities, quality standards and pricing. In the final phase, ARC analyzed RFI/RFQ data alongside insights from on-site validations to recommend the best-fit suppliers and facilitated introductions to ensure smooth engagement between the client and selected partners.
